    We had an excellent experience with Tim and the crew from Rockbridge Homes and Barnes. We were living out of state as our house was being built and Tim kept us updated every step of the way, including pictures. We appreciated the discussions with respect to options and decisions and many times, Tim offered suggestions for more affordable options. Would definitely recommend. See more See less

    We had a renovation project that included creating a guest bedroom, laundry room, hobby room, butler’s pantry and large bath out of what had originally been a garage. Tim Hickman and his team of talented carpenters and subcontractors did an amazing transformation of our space.     My wife (Katie) and I had thought about a renovation to our 1902 house for awhile, but had hesitated because of the experience many friends and family members had experienced. We only wanted to do it if we knew that we had a contractor who was both talented and trustworthy -- Rockbridge Home and Barns proved to be both in abundance. I never had the slightest concern that we were given anything other than an honest and fair assessment of what needed to be done. When we hit the inevitable bumps in the road, I loved Tim's "let's figure out how we can do this within your budget" attitude and Kim's knowledge and transparency with the invoices and modifications. The people who Tim employed were first-rate and very likeable (a real necessity when they're essentially living in your house from 9 to 5!). I cannot stress how nervous I was in approaching this project, nor can I stress enough how pleasantly surprised (astonished?) I was that the process was as smooth as a renovation could be and how pleased we were with the end product. We now have a much larger and usable kitchen and two rooms that are now one large "great room" with an amazing ADA bathroom attached. If you are thinking of hiring a contractor, I recommend Rockbridge Homes and Barns with tremendous enthusiasm. Scott See more See less

    We were thrilled with our decision to use Rockbridge Home and Barns for our renovation. We are spreadsheet kind of people liking to know exactly what lies ahead so it was particularly surprising that we decided to go the time/ cost model versus the bid on job model which was always offered. For one, we quickly realized, with an old house, there is a lot you don’t know until “walls come down” literally and figuratively and if in one case, you can save then another place you can then spend flexibility versus constant change orders appeals to you, then you really have to faith in your contractor… and, we did in Tim Hickman. In addition, all of his subcontractors were good and some were even awesome!! I’ve heard scary tales of renovation but I want to add our tale of complete satisfaction! See more See less

    Tim and Kim are great professionals and excellent partners when collaborating with a major project. The planning and communication that Tim exhibits are best in class. The team that he uses shows up when they say they are coming, they work consistently throughout the day, and the projects are completed per the plan. Tim is accessible whenever needed and is very responsive via text, phone calls, etc. and comes to the job site daily to make sure that things are proceeding as planned. Kim is efficient with billing and invoicing all portions of the project and equally as responsive to questions. We are very happy with how our garage apartment turned out! See more See less
